At Kiwanis Club of Temecula Valley, we are all about active engagement and making a positive impact in our community. Through a wide range of projects and initiatives, we strive to create meaningful connections, support youth development, and serve those in need. Here are just a few of the exciting activities and events we are involved in:
Divisional Interclub Meetings
Each Kiwanis International Club makes every effort to visit other member clubs throughout
the year and sends a minimum of three of its members on these "Interclub" visits. Our club
has embarked on an aggressive campaign to visit at least one other member club each
month, in addition to attending our Division 37 Division Council Meetings (DCM).
Key Club Sponsorship
The focus of Kiwanis International is on the youth around the world. A major component of
the activities surrounding young people is centered around Key Clubs, which are high
school organizations that mirror their adult Kiwanis Club sponsors in terms of community
service, helping others, fellowship, and the value of volunteerism. The word "Key," stands
Kiwanis Educates Youth. Our club sponsors thirteen Key clubs at high schools
throughout our geographic area, which we believe is re Key Clubs than any other
Kiwanis clubs sponsor in the nation.
Old Town Temecula Quilt Show Support
Each year in October, The Valley of the Mist Quilters put on an incredible Quilt Show in Old
Town Temecula. Our Club members provide logistical support, security and parking
assistance for this heavily attended outdoor event.
Kiwanis OneDay Participation
Each year, Kiwanis International holds what is referred to as "Kiwanis OneDay." This is a
specified day that all Kiwanis Clubs participate in by getting together within their regional
division to perform a collective community service, such as repairing and repairing fences
at senior centers, schools, housing projects for the developmentally disabled, as well as
other projects where significant volunteer manpower is required to help offset labor costs.
Murrieta Field of Honor
Each year in the City of Murrieta, an amazing patriotic event takes place during Veterans
Day Week. In addition to the many separate events that take place throughout the week,
including a celebration of the birthday of the United States Marine Corps and a Patriotic
Ball, over two thousand full sized American Flags are arranged in row after row throughout
the park situated adjacent to the City Hall, Police Department, Public Library, and Senior
Center. Our members help to put up and take down the flags.
Youth Art Exhibition at the Promenade Mall
Every Spring, our members participate in the distribution of art supplies to local schools,
and the collection, mounting and display of local student artwork that is exhibited at the
Promenade Mall in the center of the Temecula Valley.
Annual Kiwanis Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser
Our signature fundraising event is a popular spaghetti dinner attended by more than 2,000
friends, relatives and neighbors throughout the community who come to support this major
fundraising event. Money is raised through the sales of dinner tickets, opportunity baskets,
and other efforts. Our members work many aspects of the event, including gathering all
necessary supplies, setting up tables and chairs in the facility where we hold the event,
cooking the spaghetti, and, of course, cleaning up with the help of other volunteers, such as
Key Club Members, and members of local Boy Scout Troops. In addition to a delicious
spaghetti dinner, various types of entertainment is provided.
Chamber of Commerce Membership and Participation
Our members proudly support the efforts of our chambers of commerce in supporting local
businesses and non-profit organizations. In addition to participating at various chamber
events, some of our members also serve as Ambassadors to the Temecula Valley Chamber of
Commerce and attend ribbon cuttings, mixers, open houses and other chamber sponsored
activities.
Additional Support
In addition to the events listed above, the Kiwanis Club of Temecula Valley also supports the
local food bank, Rady Children's Hospital through the Kiwanis Miracle Mile of Quarters
fundraiser, Salvation Army bell ringing, the Old Town Temecula Rod Run, Michelle's Place
SK Run, the Boys and Girls Club, Oak Grove Center for Education and Treatment, and we
provide a number of scholarships to local high school students, among a host of other
events and projects.
